makeup

2008 brought me lots of new opportunities. In addition to starting a photography business (website coming soon), I had the amazing opportunity to be trained as a professional makeup artist.

I know, many of you must be gasping right now. Jessica Schmale make up artist? WHAT! It's pretty crazy, but God tends to work that way with me...taking me places I'd never think to go.

A friend of mine owns a hair & makeup company called Haute Facade based in Dallas. She moved to Austin in the last couple of years and has been accumulating a little business here.

When she asked me to join her, I laughed - at first. I told her I knew nothing - that my makeup hadn't changed since jr. high and that she was crazy to even think of me.

She assured me that she was up for the challenge.

Well, 3 or 4 Dallas weddings and a couple Austin weddings later and I'm trained! Consider me a makeup artist.

It's hilarious really...but I've enjoyed learning and I think I'll continue to enjoy the relationships formed at weddings asI stand in the faces of strangers. What a neat opportunity.

A couple weeks ago I had a final training day where several friends came and I did their makeup.

The following are a couple photos from the event.

Enjoy!!
