Mexican Kiddos

I won't write much in this post because it is heavy with images. I apologize in advance.

Last week I had the distinct pleasure of visiting Hualahuises, Mexico with a group from Austin Bible. What a fantastic few days!!

We built houses, beds, windows, and doors (some of us anyway....hey, don't judge! I helped...a little), played with orphans, sorted clothes, etc.

Seriously, it was an incredible time of fellowship and service. We stayed with a fabulous, gracious Mexican family that loves people well for the sake of the Gospel.

For this post, I chose a few (way too many) images of the kids we spent time with at the orphanage.

There will undoubtedly be more posts from this trip. I had a BLAST documenting this one. So enjoy these Mexican kiddos for starters.

::I love faces! I find myself gravitating toward close up images of silly expressions that capture personality, especially with kids::

Mexico Kids 3

::The ladies on the trip enjoyed providing crafts and Bible lessons for these little ones::

Mexico Kids 8

Mexico Kids 5

::This series is the crew putting together the new homemade beds, and the little girls' reactions. They were so so thankful to have a new place to sleep. Many of them were sharing and sleeping on the floor before::

Mexico Kids 2

Mexico Kids 11

::Mama Tona cooks every meal for these sweet kids. She shares her life with them - even sleeping in a bedroom with all the girls. What a fabulous picture of what God calls us to in James 1:27::

::In an orphanage like this, getting lice is inevitable. My sister was one of many who combed through head after head of hair treating for those little piojos before the kids slept in their new beds (it's completely understandable if you need to take a second here to stop and aggressively itch your head) ::

Mexico Kids 9

::I had to document the corn that the kids enjoyed while we were there. The chili and mayo may have done a number on the stomachs of these gringos, but those kiddos LOVED it::

Like I said, I can't imagine that this will be the only Mexico post, so gear up for more. Thanks for tuning in!!!

Hasta la vista.

I love the bubble pics! So awesome.

P.S. My confirmation word to post a comment was EADALIST, which sounds like EAT A LIST, which makes me think of the listeater. Sigh.
