Fourth of July!
I love it!
I love fireworks.
I love the sunshine.
I love outdoor parties, pools, barbeque, etc.
I love all of it. As a kid my family would drive into Houston for the fourth celebrations and we would eat barbeque, play on the lawn, ride down the hill in our red wagon and lay out in the grass enjoying the fireworks when evening came. Seriously. It doesn't get much better than that.
With my sister's wedding coming we had another dress fitting taking us home for the weekend. So for the first time in years I got to spend the fourth with my family in Friendswood last weekend! It was fabulous!
While we didn't head into Houston (the traffic's a nightmare and they closed off the park we used to spend the day in), we enjoyed the sun and all the Friendswood tradition that goes with it. I must admit, it reminded me that I really do love my hometown. I love the tradition and small town feel.
Here are some photos from Friendswood 4th of July Parade. Enjoy!
::My fabulous family waiting to get things started...you're a goober, dad::
::Straight down Friendswood Drive::
::Yep, it's THE Ron Paul::
::As is true in any Texas town, the PRIDE of Friendswood = the Mustang football team. Relax, boys, ya'll rest your feet in that trailor while your cheerleaders and drill team march behind cheering for you in the heat::

::My brother's sweet girlfriend is the Grand Marshal of the Friendswood Wranglerettes this next year. We enjoyed seeing her lead the girls in her first act as GM::
::Gotta start 'em young::
::Only in the Houston area would you see a float decorated as a space shuttle for the tenth year in a row::
::It was super cool to see vets come out to celebrate our freedom::
::That lady nearly ran into me on her awesome ride::
::One of my favorites from the entire day...I want this photo to represent my life...just raise your hands and enjoy the ride, right::
::Ben & Nik are stoked about the 107 degree weather::
::Welcome to the family, Charlie::

Aw, Jess, I heart Friendswood just from your pics!!
I must say, that of the entire day, my favorite part was Mrs. Julie rockin' the chacos!!! Way to go Mrs. Julie!!
Love you Schmale Family :)
The kid on the penny-farthing almost beat Ron Paul for best picture in this post. Almost.
Oh wow... this brings me back to the good 'ole days! I sure love FWood's 4th of July celebration :)
Whew! Thanks for the pics. We were out of town for the parade this year. School starts on Monday and I've been feeling like the summer wasn't complete somehow... like I missed something. It was the parade! Now the whole is filled. Let school begin!
Thanks for covering the event!
